The Woodlin PTA Online Auction launches on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, and closing bids are due by Saturday, May 23!
For those who are able to contribute, we hope you will join us in supporting a successful auction! Unfortunately, some donated items are no longer viable and were removed. Yet there are still countless items that would be great to use under the stay-at-home order or that have long-term or no expiration dates. Gift certificates for restaurants that are offering takeout and delivery and class baskets full of treats and activities for kids are just some examples.
As we wrap up this unprecedented 2019-2020 school year, we see the auction as an important way to prepare for next year. While we cannot foresee what the next school year will look like, we want to be ready to do as much as we can to support Woodlin teachers, families, and students. We are considering ways to help our community transition back to school whenever that is possible. Some ideas include providing additional funds for club scholarships or additional resources for Woodlin to support teacher training and social-emotional support for kids. Your participation in the auction will set us up to offer that kind of help.
While we missed the opportunity to see everyone in their 80s and 90s garb at an in-person auction, cancelling the in-person auction was the right decision for our community. Thank you to all of the parents who donated the value of their tickets! Rosensteel Hall generously did not charge us for the event space despite only a few days’ notice, so all of the ticket sales went directly to supporting the PTA!
Please mark your calendars and be prepared to start bidding on auction items Wednesday, May 20th!

March 2020 Letter
Please see the following message from Emily Menashes, Woodlin PTA President, about this year’s Silent Auction.
Dear Woodlin Community,
After considerable thought and discussion, the Woodlin PTA has decided to cancel the Auction on Saturday, March 14 due to coronavirus concerns. Instead, we will be holding an online auction at a later date once we are able to convert all of the items to an online platform. Please be on the lookout for more information – the auction contributes almost half of the PTA’s budget, so a successful online auction will be critical for maintaining the many important initiatives of the Woodlin PTA.
While many people were still excited to participate in the auction, others had expressed concern. Ultimately, we did not want members of our community to have to make the decision between supporting the Woodlin PTA or taking care of their health, particularly those who are caregivers for the elderly or people with underlying conditions. By putting the auction online instead, those individuals will still be able to participate.
We thank all of those who have contributed items such as classroom baskets and who have helped us prepare for the auction in myriad other ways. We appreciate your understanding as we make the difficult decision to cancel the in-person event. Be assured that your items will be included in the virtual auction and perhaps even more of the Woodlin community will be able to view and bid on them.
If you wish to have your ticket refunded, please email your request to email@example.com. No need to reach out if you would like your tickets to be considered a donation to the PTA. Retained ticket sales will help offset any deposits and nonrefundable expenses that are unavoidable at this point.
We thank you again for your understanding and we will be in touch with information about the first ever Woodlin Virtual Auction!
